Hello there.
I'm new here and this is my first post, so be patient with me, if I don't know or understand all the things yet.
Some time ago I found three scooter batteries just laying on the ground, next to a walkway/service road. They are marked Voi, so I think they are for the Voiager 3x, which is (I think) the most common Voi scooter model here. (Espoo, Finland)
I don't know what I should do with the batteries. I know they are probably worth a lot of money, but I don't know if Voi has anything like a finder's fee, if I return them... I don't need the batteries for anything right now, but I am open to suggestions for what to use them for.
Do the batteries have any security features to prevent their use on other appliances? Do you need a special charger for them? The connector socket looks a bit strange to me... Does it fit some standard plug or is it Voi specific?

Since the batteries are marked Voi, they likely belong to the Voi scooter company. Here’s what you can do:Hello there.

Contact Voi: Reach out to Voi customer support. Explain the situation and ask if they have a process for returning lost batteries. They might offer a finder's fee or at least appreciate your effort to return their property. You can contact Voi through their official website or app.
Local Authorities: If you're unable to contact Voi directly, you might consider turning the batteries over to local authorities who can handle the return process.
Security Features and Usage
If you’re considering using the batteries yourself, here are some considerations:
Security Features: Some scooter batteries have built-in security features that prevent them from being used in unauthorized devices. This can include unique connectors, firmware locks, or electronic authentication methods.
Connector and Charger: The strange connector socket you mentioned might be specific to Voi scooters. You would need to determine the connector type and find a compatible charger. Scooter batteries typically require specific chargers that match their voltage and current specifications. Using an incorrect charger can be dangerous.
Re: Voiager 3x batteries
Hello everyone,
I'm also new here and found this discussion very interesting. I had a similar experience recently where I found some scooter batteries marked Voi.
I'm curious if anyone has successfully contacted Voi about returning such items and if there was any response regarding a finder's fee or acknowledgment. Additionally, I'm interested in knowing more about the potential uses of these batteries.

Do they indeed have security features that prevent them from being used with other appliances? And does anyone have experience with the type of charger needed for these batteries? The connector does look unique, and I'm wondering if it's possible to find or adapt a standard charger for them.
Thanks for any insights you can share!

Re: Voiager 3x batteries
Ok, so I got in touch with Voi.
I don't know if it was my phone or what, but I could not reach out to them with the Voi app on my phone. So, I used a browser to go to their website. After searching for some time, I finally found a "support request" chat or something. AI chat. It had helpful categories I could choose from as the subject of my inquiry. Of course none of them fit the situation. I didn't want to report a wrongly parked scooter or had a technical malfunction of a scooter or anything like that. So, when the chat finally opened, I typed: "I found Voi scooter batteries lying on the ground, not connected to any vehicle. Separate, loose batteries just lying there. What should I do with them?"
"Sorry, I did not understand that. Could you try to say that in more simple words?"

"I found scooter batteries. What should I do with them?"
"Sorry, I did not understand that. It seems like you have a problem with your scooter's battery. Would you like to talk to a human support agent?"
"Yes, please."
When I finally got a human to talk to (after waiting 20 minutes) I explained the whole thing again with more detail. They wanted my email and phone number and the exact place where the batteries were found. They said they will relay the issue to the appropriate department, and those people will contact me by email for returning the batteries. And no, there is no finder's fee.
This was a month ago. Nobody has contacted me. I have checked spam and trash folders. Nothing.
At least they don't seem to be in any hurry to get the batteries back. And there's no reward for returning them. I think I'll just call it quits and keep the damn things. They are worth probably hundreds of euros, and I did try to return them.

Here are a few points to consider regarding the Voi scooter batteries:
Returning the Batteries
Contact Voi Support: The best course of action would be to contact Voi directly through their customer support. Explain the situation and ask if they have a finder's fee or any procedure for returning found batteries. They might be very appreciative and could offer some form of reward.
Email: You can usually find their support email on their website.
App: If you have the Voi app, there's typically a support or contact option within it.
Reusing the Batteries
Compatibility and Security: Voi batteries are designed specifically for their scooters. They likely have built-in security features to prevent unauthorized use.
Connector Socket: These are usually proprietary, meaning they won't easily fit into standard plugs or appliances without proper adapters.
Charger: Voi batteries typically require a special charger. Using an incorrect charger could be dangerous.
Potential Uses
DIY Projects: If you are technically inclined, these batteries could be used for DIY electric vehicle projects, but this requires significant knowledge in electronics and safety considerations.
Safety First: Always handle batteries with care. Incorrect handling can lead to short circuits, fires, or explosions.

Re: Voiager 3x batteries
You can contact Voi or local authorities to report the found batteries,Retro Bowl College as they may have procedures or offer a finder’s fee.
Re: Voiager 3x batteries
I contacted Voi.
They told me there's no finder's fee.
They said they will forward the issue to the proper local department, who will contact me by e-mail to retrieve the batteries.
It's been almost two months now, and nobody has contacted me from the "local department". I have also reported a Voi scooter parked in the middle of a driveway and nobody has come for that, either. I don't think the "local department" gives a toss.
