Failed dash flash - dash won't turn on

Postby tallas Sun Aug 23, 2020 2:04 pm

I have done this before successfully, but my most recent attempt has left the dashboard dead/unresponsive. I used this guide:

viewtopic.php?t=208

I have plugged the dash into a working g30 and still it won't show anything. I know the connection is OK as if I press the button, the tail brake light starts flashing slowly so the dash isn't entirely dead. I did used the non-solder method so my guess is one of the connection points either disconnected or crossed with another during the flash.

Any ideas of what I can try?

So I verified that the dash has power. I attempted the flash about 10 more times, but still getting an error:

** Programming Started **
auto erase enabled
Warn : using fast async flash loader. This is currently supported
Warn : only with ST-Link and CMSIS-DAP. If you have issues, add
Warn : "set WORKAREASIZE 0" before sourcing nrf51.cfg/nrf52.cfg to disable it
Error: flash write algorithm aborted by target
Error: timed out while waiting for target halted
Error: timed out while waiting for target halted
Error: error waiting for target flash write algorithm
Error: Read only enable did not complete
Error: Failed to write to nrf5 flash
Error: error writing to flash at address 0x00000000 at offset 0x00000000
embedded:startup.tcl:470: Error: ** Programming Failed **
in procedure 'program'
in procedure 'program_error' called at file "embedded:startup.tcl", line 529
at file "embedded:startup.tcl", line 470
Done! Check the logs to verify if the flash was successful.

So it looks like the read only command is not working. Is this an updated spin scooter or did I break it during my first flash?

Just a quick note about what probably happened so you don't wonder in the future:

Certain ST-Links have improper schematics printed on the outer jacket. Sliding this jacket off will reveal the proper pinout printed on the PCB of the ST-Link itself. Tons of people make this mistake not knowing. Glad you figured out your issue. Happy scooting!
