ES2 will not turn off or go to sleep

Postby kiwiamazon Wed Nov 08, 2023 1:21 am

I purchased a well used Ninebot ES2. Thanks to ScooterHacking and DarknessBot
I have successfully linked this ES2 to my account in the Segway-Ninebot app.
My issue is that I cannot get the power button to do anything.
I had to go to an old version of firmware (that did not require the power button to pair)
to get the Ninebot app running.
I’ve replaced the dashboard assembly (with a new one from alibaba), but that had no effect.
I can shut down the ES2 via the power off function in DarknessBot, but the ES2
immediately goes into a self check (every indicator briefly comes on) and then remains on.
What am I missing?
Does the ES2 think someone is standing on it so it will not shut down?
How does it know that?
Will power cycling the ES2 controller possibly help?
Will replacing the ES2 controller help?
Any suggestions other than charge often?
(my ES2 loses 18% of charge per day doing nothing!)

Hello, if the power button on your ES2 is unresponsive, it could indicate a problem with the scooter's electrical system. One possible solution is to try power cycling the ES2 by disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it after a short period of time. This can help reset the scooter and might resolve the issue.

It seems like your Ninebot ES2 may have issues with the power button functionality despite firmware adjustments and dashboard replacement. Investigate if there's a sensor misreading or consider replacing the ES2 controller for a comprehensive fix.

Hey,

It sounds like a tricky issue with your Ninebot ES2. Since you've already replaced the dashboard and tried different firmware, the next steps could be power cycling the controller by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and checking the foot sensors to ensure they're clean and working. If the problem persists, consider replacing the ES2 controller as it might be causing the malfunction. The battery drain could also be linked to a faulty controller or an internal short. Good luck, and I hope you get it sorted soon!
