Cannot charge through control board

I have an ES2 and I am able to connect the battery directly to the charger and it will charge to 42v. When I try to charge using the charging port (going through the control board) the charger stays green and does not show any watts being drawn through my kill-a-watt. There is also no recognition on the display of any charging happening. I can also run the motor while charging (not sure if this is normal). I've tested the continuity of the charging port and it's fine. Since I can get 42v on the battery I assume I don't have a bat BMS. Is this a wrong assumption. What else can I check to trace the problem?
